A well-maintained ghost town with over fifty structures, Bannack, is a true historical gold mine. As Montana’s first territorial capitol and the site of a major gold rush, Bannack has a true wild west story just waiting to be discovered.
Today Bannack is within a days drive of the Bitterroot Valley by way of the Big Hole Valley. Plan a trip during one of the many event days with historical re-enactments or choose a quieter day to visit the “ghost town”.
